In week 42 students from Year 8 travelled to KTH university and the Mentorspace building in their Kista campus. The Mentorspace is an area within KTH where students are able to work and create projects in a space with donated tools and resources to use creatively. During the day there students from Rådan worked alongside university students and lecturers learning plenty of skills such as soldering, 3D printing and programming.
The reasoning behind this day was to develop many of the skills needed for their entrepreneurship project. Students are going to create a technology project which uses the knowledge they have gained from programming and electronics to create a product that can help reach part of the UN sustainability goals.
The students will be working on building their products in technology lessons in November and December, with the aim to have a final product by the end of the term. There will be two more visits to Mentorspace as we work through this term – with students using the facilities and knowledge available to help make their products a reality
Rådan Nyheter, our school’s newspaper where a group of students act as journalists and write about UN day at Rådan International 22 October 2020
Chemistry Day 2020On Friday 16th October students across all of Futuraskolan Rådan joined in with Chemistry Day.
Students in the higher grades, from grade 5 to grade 9 practiced the experiments in science class prior, and then worked with the younger students in small groups to show them how to do the experiment.
The theme for this year was plant health, and students learnt about how to clean water with methods such as filtration as well as how phosphorus and nitrates are important for plant growth.
The final experiment saw students make urea crystals that grow on pipe cleaners – giving an effect of snowfall on the tree edge!
Chemistry fun was had by all!
