One of Futuraskolan International Rådan’s parents very kindly donated a lot of Spanish books for young learners. Thank you!
This school year, Futuraskolan International Rådan is focusing on building up the Spanish and French book sections of the library.
Here are two pictures of what Futuraskolan International Rådan’s library looked like during the summer.
Students and staff returned A LOT of books! There wasn’t enough shelf space for all of the books.
Two new bookcases were added to the library over the summer. When the old bookcases were moved to make room for the new ones, they fell apart and there were books everywhere!
The good news is that all the books were back in place by the time school started.
Futuraskolan International Rådan’s library has a selection of books in different languages. This school year, it was decided to focus on building up the French and Spanish sections since these are the two languages offered at the school.
One of Rådan’s staff members is spending a year teaching in Portugal. Near her school there is a second hand bookstore called Déjà Lu – Livraria Solidaria. This bookstore is run by people with Down Syndrome and all the money collected from sales is used to support The Portuguese Down Syndrome Association. The bookstore offers secondhand books in languages from all over the world. This Rådan teacher will buy used French and Spanish books from Déjà Lu and bring them back to Rådan when she visits during the holidays.
Thank you, Déjà Lu for the work you do! If you ever visit Cascais, consider stopping by the bookstore.
Futuraskolan International Rådan’s staff and students are happy to be able to support Déjà Lu and are looking forward to reading a whole bunch of new books!

This unit is is done in the spring term as it allows for the students to “dig up” the school yard since we have such a fantastic environment. Here is the two grade 1’s working together to uncover the items from the past.
Check out this short movie of some of the activities that took place for Sofiadagen at Rådan.

Learning about the world the children live in is of vital importance as this widens their perspectives within the boarders of a classroom.
This term the year fours had to do a research countries around the world that speak English. The children chose to work on Africa as a continent and selected a country to work on.
This project was completed in groups of five encouraging communication amongst peers, cooperation and thoughtfulness throughout the process. The children were encouraged to respectfully show their opinions and adapt to individual ideas and enquiries accordingly!
The results were very impressive with children singing songs, dancing and dressing up!
Take a look at this article about how 2 students from Futuraskolan International Rådan want to implement an idea.
